This was from the swamp tour I took during a 2002 trip to New Orleans. Those gators were not shy!

See the thing is, I remember you assuring me you weren't using a zoom lens on these. I love the grin in the second picture!

Ugh, no thanks! I think I would be just way too scared for that sort of tour! No snakes either for me either, thank you!

Yes, Cat, the tour guide told me to keep my arms inside the railings next time--that gator was eyeing me for lunch. I snapped the pic and moved back FAST!

They attract the gators with marshmallows, just FYI. They show up well and float. I got to toss some. It was really awesome. That swamp tour was the highlight of the visit--it was such a beautiful place, a completely different world. I haven't been back after Katrina. I'm afraid some of my favorite things--the little shack right on the water, the old, crumbling cemetary--are gone now.

No way on God's green earth would I do this. Is this guy crazy?

So, what was he feeding him?

A chicken thigh/leg quarter, Denise. I also got to hold a little baby gator during this tour--it was about eight inches long and so cute, I wanted to take it home! I should've posted that picture, too... maybe next week!

Ain't that a lil dangerous? I wouldn't want to go back with a missing hand.

Yikes! He looks just a bit too intelligent for me. Though I have to admit that's a fantastic picture.
